If you truly strive and avoid the major sins, then you will taste true success, in'sha'Allah:

"If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise]." [4:31]

However, let's not forget the major sins include the likes of missing your salah or disrespecting your parents so don't caught up in what some people do everyday!
